Workshop 5 Represention
In this project, I worked with Mingzhe. We firstly came up of the idea focusing on the shape of the window of Law Building. In the following week, we two generated two distinguishing models based on the idea. Hers was more geometric while mine was more organic. During the sequencing weeks we struggled to put our models together. After various tests, we decided to make my organic part as the center of the model and hers as the skin of it.
The final model indicates the sense of layers: organic "ball", sharp sticks and thin strings.
We also give the model an inside layer of skin which was newspaper to attract others to look inside and explore the internal shifting between positive and negative spaces. Besides, texts coming from the newspaper implies the Law Building as a library.
Holes of various sized and shapes, facing different directions, let light pass through in different ways which generate more interesting interaction between the model and the surrounding environment.
Mingzhe and I intended to create something having shifting faces on each side. This model achieves our goal and can be viewed as brand new shape in different ways.
